Summer 2015 | GI SW Face Climbers Bivouac at 7300m, Waiting Improvement in Weather

Marek Holecek and Tomas Petrecek have reached 7300m on Gasherbrum I Southwest Face and are waiting for strong wind and snow to recede before pushing forward. The Elements, official sponsor of Czech duo, says that the climbers will stay in bivouac for a couple of days. The ascent is expected to resume on Thursday.

Czech team left Base Camp on August 7th, hoping for good weather and better climbing conditions on the wall. They intended to complete the ascent in 7 days. Marek and Tomas’ line of ascent - a direct route up the Southwest Face of GI - has been attempted twice by Marek together with late Zdenek Hruby (in 2009 and 2013), reaching 7600m and 6800m, respectively.
